Argon Mengajar Program Enlightens the Dreams of Scavenger Children

Djembatan Dua, through its Argon Peduli initiative, is dedicated to fostering equal opportunities in education and healthcare for children. This mission came to life through the Argon Mengajar program, held on Friday, November 22, 2024, at Sekolah Kami in Bekasi, West Java.

Sekolah Kami, an informal school founded by Dr. Irina Amongpradja, supports scavenger children in Bekasi who face barriers to formal education.

The program welcomed over 120 children, introducing them to practical health knowledge through three engaging sessions. Mrs. Sylvana Manaloe presented tips on healthy living, Drg. Bernadethe Bicky shared insights on dental hygiene, and Mr. Rey Kardiono demonstrated proper wound care.

The interactive format allowed children to actively participate in simulations and hands-on practices, making the lessons relevant and applicable to their daily lives.

Key attendees included Mr. Steve Nova Wibowo, Branch Manager of Anugrah Argon Medica Bekasi; healthcare professionals from Klinik Lentera; and Argon Peduli volunteers from Medela Potentia, Anugrah Argon Medica and Djembatan Dua.

Mr. Steve Nova Wibowo highlighted the importance of aligning education and health for a brighter future.

“Our hope is to inspire these children to keep striving for their dreams. Remember, your future is in your hands, and every small step today leads to significant progress tomorrow,” he said.

Argon Mengajar reflects the company’s commitment to its core value: deal with care.

“We firmly believe that education unlocks potential, while health provides the foundation for effective learning. Through this program, we aim to make a lasting impact by encouraging children to learn, stay healthy, and pursue their aspirations,” explained Mrs. Nancy Kartika, Human Resources Director Medela Potentia.

Dr. Irina Amongpradja, the founder of Sekolah Kami, stressed the importance of educational support for scavenger children to overcome access challenges.

“At Sekolah Kami, children receive comprehensive learning opportunities, including ethics, character building, vocational training, music, sports, and basic literacy and numeracy skills,” said Dr. Irina.
